Grace was originally drawn as a commission for a client visiting from Australia.
The red fox was introduced into Australia in the 1830's for the traditional English sport of fox hunting. They adapted to their new climate too well, and are now classigied as a pest - but still they are quietly loved by a few.
In folklore, they are a symbol of cunning and trickery; and often are used to depict intelligence overcoming both malevolence and brute strength.
Nikki personally? She loves the childhood story imagery of the fox hunting in the moonlight; dreaming of bringing home a fine, fat goose to feed his family.
Grace was inspired by the song "Far from Grace" by The Doves
